Hi Friends!
So I know I've neglected my blog, but it isn't because I haven't been photographing! I'm terribly behind and have lots to share with you! First I'm going to share with you my favorite images from Hannah & Steven Terwilliger's wedding. They are childhood friends and each others firsts! They got married in Sacramento, CA and had an intimate reception with family at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I had such a blast photographing their portraits at the O.S.F.! My lovely assistant Sarah Beth did such a great job and I'm so thankful for her help that day. Please enjoy these images from their day and have a great weekend my friends!

Granite Bay, California Wedding Photography

Friends & family,

Hello again! A few days ago I promised a full blog post on the teaser photo I posted and here it is! This was a wedding I shot with fellow photographer friend Sarah of Sarah Beth Photo. She is not only a very kind woman but a Very talented photographer as well!

I have been working with a fantastic graphic designer (ok, so he's my boyfriend, but he REALLY IS a Fantastic designer and artist!) on this for some time, and I am VERY happy with the outcome! Family Portaits with pet dog in Rocklin, California

Kenny and Theresa are friends of mine who got married in October of 2009. This year they decided it was time to have an addition to their family! And thus, Buster was added to the family tree. This cute little papillon is as rambunctious as a puppy should be and as equally adorable (if not more than)! We had original plans to take portraits at a place in Downtown Sacramento, but decided on a Park in Rocklin instead. Buster was such a great sport and it was such a joy to photograph Kenny and Theresa's newly expanded family! Enough chat! Here are the portraits!

Folsom, California Family Portrait Photography

I met up with Leslie a few weeks ago. Super mom to two girls and a baby boy! Unfortunately dad "wasn't able to make the photoshoot" (camera shy much?) but Leslie took up the opportunity to take photos with her little ones and surprise dad with a portrait for his birthday! (which is why I couldn't blog this images sooner!) We first drove to a park/bike path with un-used train tracks to take photos and then ended up back at their home for some portraits sitting in Great-Grandma's pint-sized rocking chair that has been passed down the family! The girls were so loving and helpful with their little brother and he was such a good sport and didn't even shed a tear! Enough talk, here are the images from the session in Folsom, Ca!

Downtown Sacramento, CA Family Portraits

Andrea & Jesse's families have been wanting portraits of their little family for quite sometime, and so last night I met up with this lovely couple and their adorable dog, Iggy in downtown Sacramento for some Christmas family portraits. The weather was a little moody, but that didn't stop us. That darn sun just didn't want to come out and play with us! But we had fun anyhow going through the park, discovering new backdrops and talking about our favorite spots to eat at in the area. (I highly recommend Magpie! They have a to die for pork belly appetizer and their bread pudding with blueberries is a winner as well.) Well enough talk! Here are the images. Enjoy!

First we took some portraits by these neat railroad tracks. Aren't they cute?!

The sun was such a beautiful golden warm color, I couldn't resist a semi silhouette shot. Doesn't it make you want to melt?

Christmas is right around the corner and I thought I'd blog about what I've been dreaming about this Christmas season. Honestly I usually have NO IDEA what I want, but this year I've actually tried to put some thought into it and keep a list of things I think of throughout this fall. Here is my wish list. What's on yours?

I Love Sewing and making crafts so much! I often wish I had a sewing machine so I could make clothes for myself! Now this one is a bit outdated but it's still a cute photo. :)

I don't think I've ever owned a housecoat but it seems like such a nice thing to have, especially with the chilly weather right now! If I ever want to check the mail, or walk my boyfriend out to his car to say goodnight, this would be perfect to throw on before heading out into the chilly air. Plus the light mint color is nice!

Antique looking heeled boots have been on a wish list of mine for quite some time. I can't decide if I like brown or black better. I like the delicate lace on these brown ones.

These black Victorian-esq booties are cute and stylish but study at the same with the big solid heels.

Another addition to my wish list this year are gloves. I've been wanting a nice pair of gloves for years now, but for some reason I never buy them for myself! I like the soft dusty rose color and the black stitching.

I thought these "texting" gloves looked pretty cozy! I like the button details as well.

I love that these look velvet like and they're blue! The white piping border and buttons make it really unique.

Now who could resist these baby blue gloves with the fake watch stitched onto the wrists?!

I have always been such a huge fan of scarfs and look forward to fall every year just so I can wear mine! I've always been so cautious in my scarf choices however and feel the need to branch out into pretty patterns and more bold colors. (My current scarf collection consists of a black scarf, a white scarf and a plain cotton grey one)

Ok so this scarf isn't colorful, but it's got a beautiful pattern!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ruffly scarf! Plus this golden brown is beautiful.

I know this is grey, but it definitely has much more character and texture than my current grey scarf.

Another thing I've always been a fan of are hats! I don't really have many winter type hats though. Just one that a dear friend gave me for Christmas one year. (and I absolutely love it) I've always wanted one of these hats that cover up my ears. Sometimes they seem a little over the top, but I like how low key this one is.

I am a sucker for cloches! I like how the ribbon is tied on this hat. It's simple and elegant. Just my style. (or what I wish my style was haha)

Halloween Fest-Evil!

Hi Friends!

I think Halloween has to be one of my all time favorite holidays. I simply LOVE dressing up! There is just something fantastic about getting to dress up as someone else or pretending to be from another era. Last year my boyfriend and I were Zeus and Athena. I got the le sac dress from American Apparel and he wore bedsheets, gave himself a beard extensions and painted a wicked sweet six-pac on himself! Here are some images from our costumes last year.

This year we decided to host our own Halloween Fest-Evil! This year we were Little Bo Peep and my counterpart was my sheep! For this party we tried to incorporate as much halloween-like things as we could to make it fun for our guests. My boyfriend bought a fog machine and I got a blacklight, blacklight candles and a trippy poster for the dance room and together we created a photo-op area that our friend Andrew thought up. Here are some images of our costumes, the decorations and our photo-op area. Enjoy!

Birthday BBQ

So a few months ago in September my dear sister had a BBQ birthday gathering for her family. She has to be one of the most adorable little housewives I've ever known. Dressed in her pretty little plum coloured dress she BBQ'd us all some amazing Jamaican Jerk Chicken while we listened to some Bob Marley. To top the day off her husband made from scratch a chocolate layered cake with a raspberry glaze on top! It was the perfect balance between the raw cocoa and the sweetness of the fruit. Lilly Flowers

My beau is the best at making me feel wonderful! A few weeks ago he bought me some beautiful lilies "just because" and I couldn't resist photographing them. I normally dry flowers that are given to me and hang them in my room, but unfortunately lilies don't dry/hang well. So these images will have to do to remember them. Brett Andrew Vandenberg

Earlier this year I took family portraits and maternity portraits of the Vandenberg family. Well a few months ago they had their second boy, Brett! They welcomed me back to their home to photograph this new little guy and had some birth announcements designed for them as well. He was such a little darling! I dare say the most well behaved, peaceful little one I've ever seen. Of course he fussed a little (who wouldn't if they were told to sit half naked for a few portraits?! haha!) But he was a good sport and we got some beautiful photos of him. Congratulations again, Sara & Aaron! (oh and to the big Brother too!) I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

A dinner party in Auburn

So this month the House 2 Home magazine brought me to Auburn to photograph the delightful Joanne Neft. She started the first Foothill Farmers' Market about 20 years ago, helped start the Mountain Mandarin Festival held in Auburn and is author of "Placer County Real Food Cookbook". Last year Joanne along with Chef Laura Kenny shopped the local farmers market on the weekends and on Monday evenings they would serve eight guests new and simple recipes they had created all from the foods bought at the farmers markets. They recipes are all compiled in this cookbook with all in-season menus all 52 weeks, starting in January and ending in December 2009. As soon as Betsy (the writer) and I arrived at the quaint cottage in the hills we were greeted at the door by the smiling faces of Joanne and Laura. Laura offered us a nectarine puree lemon-aid made fresh that afternoon and a appetizer of fresh salmon and dill dip with baby carrots, radishes and snap peas. Joanne shared with us the history of the farmers' markets start in Auburn and how Laura and her put the cookbook together. I was in heaven with the amazing window light in this house! Then it was time for lunch. Laura prepared steak over a bed of corn, cucumber, avocado and basil salad and bean sprouts and tiny tomatoes on the side. (lunch was made from food bought at the farmers market or from Joanne's personal garden) The portion size was just perfect because next came dessert! A lemon cream meringue with fresh picked blackberries, Raspberries and blueberries. It was so light, creamy and full of fruity flavors! I'm sorry all of you can't taste it, but please enjoy the images and check out her website! I Highly recommend buying this cookbook for yourself (and a friends or two). The recipes are simple, easy and amazingly tasty! Plus how great is it to support your local farmers!? Ok, enough talk and on to the images. Enjoy my friends! :)

Royce Heating & Air Ad

Hi friends,
Last month I got an e.mail from the big guy at Royce Heating & Air for a job. They needed an updated portrait of their "guys in white" for an ad they were putting out in House 2 Home Showcase. I of course excitedly took the job. I hadn't done a big group of guys before but knew it wouldn't be too much of a challenge. Their vision was an image of the guys in their crisp white uniforms in front of the vans in front of a beautiful house. I met the guys bright and early at 8am and we went right to work moving vans in various amounts and positions. The guys were all such good sports and we all had a great time goofing off and getting a few different shots. I think they all turned out great and was so pleased with the ad! I'll post some images here and then post the final page with the ad so you can see it in action! :)

Farmer's Market with Chef Randall Selland

Hi friends!
So last month for House 2 Home Showcase, Betsy (the writer I work with) and I had the pleasure of being showed around at the Farmer's Market. (Downtown Sacramento Every Sunday 8:00 AM - Noon at 8th and W Streets) Chef Randall Selland is the owner of Selland's, Ella's and The Kitchen, all beautiful restaurants that serve fresh ingredients from the Farmer's Market! Today he was shopping for The Kitchen and for his own home as well. Along for the tour were his wife and grandchildren who are always interested in helping out with cooking (Last time Ella & Jackson made Betsy & I homemade Clam Chowder from scratch!), and eating of course (the kids shared a basket of blackberries while at the market). Vandenberg Family Portraits

I had the great pleasure of photographing my boyfriend's sister and her family portraits. They are such a sweet, loving couple who have THE most Adorable little boy! We met at a park in Roseville and just had a relaxing time walking, talking and stopping here and there to snap portraits. Afterwards they treated us (the boyfriend & I) to some delish Chipotle for dinner! Enjoy these images!

Hello dear friends!

As usual I'm behind on my blogging! Here are a few photos from my latest works for House2Home Showcase (if you don't have a subscription to this magazine yet, you need to get one now!) First up we have Molly Hawks of Hawks Restaurant. ( http://www.hawksrestaurant.com/ ) She is not only a restaurant owner but also a chef, wife and mother! It was lovely to visit with her and her cutie and photograph them. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!

Next up we have Christine Wardlow of Wardlow Tile and Stone ( http://www.wardlowtileandstone.com/) This photo shoot was a little bit different than the work I normally do for the magazine. This time she was looking for more traditional portraits of not only herself but her staff as well. They were used in an ad and article. Here are a few from that day.

And last but not least we have Mr. Kuratomi. He owns an orchard out in Roseville. He was a wonderful tour guide and so much fun to listen to and photograph! This semester the photography class that I'm taking is called "Advance Photography" which is aka Studio Photography. We do however have one assignment using natural light. I called up my friend Betsy and asked if she'd pose for me. She took me to this lovely little green belt that she use to jog on and we had a great time just shooting away. Enjoy!

{Chef Tyler Stone}

Hi Friends,

Back in February (the 19th to be exact) I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Chef Tyler Stone. http://www.cheftylerstone.com/ What is so unique about this Chef is not only his accomplishments but the age at which he made them. He started cooking at the young age of 4 and graduated with his degree from culinary academy with his degree in restaurant management and culinary arts at 13 1/2 and published his first book titled "The Kids Cooking" at 18! He's had the chance to cook for "big names" such as the Maloof's and the Sacramento Kings, John Tesh, The Doobie Brothers and Vice President and Mrs. Cheney. All this and he's still only 21 years old! But these aren't the things he wants to talk about, what he's excited about are children. Working with and educating them about not only cooking great foods but learning how to make healthy, fun meals. He enjoys volunteering his time at at risk schools and inviting the parents to his demonstrations as well so the whole family is getting together, learning and having fun in the kitchen. A great interview and a fun photoshoot. Hope you enjoy them!

ps. I almost forgot! He made us one of the best desserts I've ever had! Chocolate Angel Food Cake with Caramelized Banana Slices and a Cinnamon Foam. It was to die for and the Cinnamon Foam was a delightful light option for heavy whipped cream.

Heather & Aaron {Engagement}

About two weeks ago I had the immense pleasure of photographing Heather & Aaron on the occasion of their engagement! Heather was one of the first friends I made after moving to California about 15 years ago. We've been through a lot and have remained friends as close as sisters. I was more than thrilled when I got the news from her of her engagement to Aaron Gray. I was able to meet him at her college graduation (before they were courting) and thought he was such a good friend to her (and also had my suspicions of possibly something more than friendship brewing, hehe) We decided to take the session downtown first at the capitol and then in old town Sacramento. They were so easy to photograph, I certainly didn't have to ask them to smile once! ;) I couldn't stop smiling while editing their images, you can really just feel the love between them! Here's a sampling of some of the great images we captured that day. Enjoy!

{ The Davis Family Portraits }

Hi everyone!
Recently I was hired by my dear friend Alie to photograph her family. Half of the kids in their family have either moved out, gone off to school or are now married and have started a family of their own. They were ALL in town for Christmas this year and Alie thought it would be great to have some family portraits done. I felt so privileged to take portraits for their family again (I took their daughter Lydia's senior portraits last year) and was really so excited to see them all again. I love my job!

So for those of you that don't know, I work for a local Sacramento home improvement magazine doing photography for them about once a month for their articles. This upcoming month's issue will be on Chef Scott Rose of Esquire Grill! He was a really interesting person. It was such a joy to get to hear about his family (his two kids are quite the cuties!) how he and his wife met (she was a waitress!) and how he's become the chef he is today. Half way through the interview he served us a delicious plate of fresh mozzarella over prosciutto & kalamata olives. Olive oil was drizzled over top along with cracked black pepper. It was melt in your mouth, amazing! To top it off he served it with some S. Pellegrino , I love that water! Anyhow, enough talk, here are the photos! About two weeks ago I had the pleasure (along with my amazing assistants Liv the incredible hairstylist and Mark my handsome boyfriend) of photographing longtime boyfriend and girlfriend couple Joel & Amanda! Hello Friends!

Yet again the semester has consumed me and therefore prevented me from posting. Here I am however with a half hour of nothingness, and how should I spend my time? Posting photos I've been working on lately in class. This semester I'm taking History of Photography (my professor Rebecca Gregg is hilarious) Digital Photography (we've been exploring all sorts of photography { examples: Landscape, studio portraits, architecture, and motion} using digital cameras and processing them using the program Lightroom) and Documentary Photography (I'm working on a documentary on Veterans in the Sacramento Region. These will be finished black & white in a slide show with the audio playing in the background) It's really hard for me to pick a favorite, they all have been so much fun and a real growing process for me. Hello dear friends!

I am super excited! For one, this Saturday I will have the pleasure of photographing the wedding of the beautiful bride to be Natalie Johal and her hubby to be Sean Sebourn! I know my assistant and I will have so much fun photographing this beautiful wedding. I'm excited for all of the beautiful bright colors the bride has chosen! (think fuchsia and orange!) In a few weeks I will be posting photos! Second of all I just got a Canon Speedlite 580EX (flash) and a Canon Ultrasonic lens EF 50mm 1:1.4 in my hands just in time for the wedding! I've been having fun playing around with them! I will post a few "just for fun" photos soon!
